Imagine a stone so captivating that even its appearance - a deep forest green punctuated with blood red spots - is a tale in itself. Bloodstone is a type of green chalcedony that has intrigued humanity with its beauty and mystical properties. The contrast of red on green is not just distinctive; it's a hallmark of nature's artistry, setting bloodstone apart from other gemstones with its unique palette.
The lore of bloodstone stretches back to medieval times, where it was revered for its magical powers. From bestowing invisibility and manipulating weather to cleansing blood and warding off demons, bloodstone's red spots were said to symbolize Christ's blood, embedding it with profound spiritual significance. Its historical uses are as fascinating as they are varied, including being a key component in rituals and spell casting, showcasing its deep-rooted connection to the divine and the mystical.
Beyond its historical and aesthetic appeal, bloodstone holds a powerful spiritual and healing essence. It radiates protective and grounding energy, offering strength and anchoring in the physical world. Its mirror-like finish, often polished to perfection, invites introspection and self-discovery, making bloodstone a beacon of support and empowerment for its wearer.
As a jewelry designer, the allure of bloodstone transcends its physical beauty, inspiring creations that embody protection, strength, and spiritual grounding. One such piece, a dagger pendant combined with an octagonal bloodstone, abstractly represents a coat of arms, marrying the stone's protective qualities with the symbolism of daggers. This fusion not only highlights bloodstone's aesthetic appeal but also its deeper meaning and significance in the wearer's life.
In today's world, where strength and self-care have become paramount, bloodstone emerges as a stone for the current times. It encourages individuals to confront their shadows, assert boundaries, and navigate life's challenges with courage and support. Integrating bloodstone into one's spiritual practice or daily life is a journey of personal exploration, where the stone's response to the individual reveals its true impact and significance.
The relationship between bloodstone and its wearer is deeply personal. It's about more than just the physical or aesthetic appeal; it's about how the stone resonates on a spiritual and emotional level. Sitting with bloodstone, feeling its energy, and observing the emotions it evokes, allows for a genuine connection, grounded in personal experience rather than prescribed meanings.
For those looking to explore the spiritual or healing aspects of bloodstone for the first time, the journey begins with an open heart and mind. It's about personal intuition, exploring how bloodstone resonates personally before delving into the wealth of knowledge and interpretations that exist. This approach ensures a meaningful and authentic connection with the stone, enhancing its role as a protective, grounding, and empowering ally in life's journey.
Bloodstone jewelry is not just an accessory; it's a companion on the path of self-discovery and spiritual growth. Whether worn for its protective qualities, its healing energy, or its sheer beauty, bloodstone offers a unique opportunity to connect with a deeper part of oneself, empowering individuals to navigate life's challenges with strength and grace.
If you want to add bloodstone to your own collection, check out some of my special pieces, including the Grounding Bloodstone Ring, the Rectangle Bloodstone Signet Ring, and the Oval Bloodstone Signet Ring. The first ring features a unique, hexagonal bloodstone bezel set in brass, while the other two signets feature bloodstone set in bronze.
Bloodstone stands out as a testament to the enduring presence and significance of nature's gifts. Its story, rich with history, spirituality, and healing, invites us to delve deeper, uncovering new layers of meaning and connection that transcend time and space.
In the end, bloodstone is more than just a gemstone; it's a symbol of life's profound beauty and complexity, offering insights and support as we navigate our earthly existence. Check out all my bloodstone pieces here.
]]>Join me as I explore the spiritual meaning of silver and what makes this metal such a powerful tool. Who knows? Maybe, you'll start incorporating its gifts into your life and spiritual practice, too!
One of the most prominent associations of silver is with the moon. The moon is associated with the feminine, the subconscious, emotions, and intuition. Silver, as a metal, shares many of these qualities with the moon — especially when it comes to change and malleability. Its visage is shiny and reflective, just like the moon's surface.
Silver holds great significance for many groups of people. Some native communities use silver in rituals ceremonies and jewelry. In Eastern religions, silver is a symbol of purity.
And for many other cultures and traditions, the moon also represents their goddesses or feminine archetypes, symbolizing traits traditionally associated with the feminine, like intuition, fertility, healing, and cleansing. And these traditions often use silver to connect with them.
For example, in Ancient Egypt, silver was associated with Isis, the goddess of magic and healing. In Hinduism, silver is linked to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity. In Celtic mythology, silver is related to Rhiannon, the goddess of the moon and horses.
Another aspect of silver is how it facilitates introspection, a key component of self-awareness, self-improvement, and spiritual growth.
Silver, serves as a catalyst for internal shifts. It encourages imagination and intuition, allowing you to shape abstract ideas into tangible forms. Sterling silver is perfect for those who wish to ease into new ideas or change.
Moreover, silver enhances your internal communication, enabling you to express your thoughts and emotions effectively. In my experience, sterling silver exudes a gentle energy, making it an ideal companion for gradual transformation. Like a soothing bath, it invites those seeking new ideas or transformative shifts to embrace its subtle power.
Change is an inevitable and constant part of life, but it's important to remember that it can bring challenges as well as opportunities. Change is a catalyst for growth and transformation, if we embrace it with courage and grace.
Silver, as a metal, is both flexible and resilient. Its ability to bend makes it adaptable to various forms and designs. Additionally, silver can be alloyed, resulting in variations like sterling silver or fine silver. Whether polished to a brilliant shine or oxidized to create a patina, silver remains beautiful and strong. In essence, silver mirrors our capacity to adapt and thrive amidst change.
Silver is a metal that has a lot more to offer than meets the eye. It is not only a beautiful and valuable material, but also a meaningful and powerful one. Silver jewelry can help you embark on a journey of self-discovery and self-expression. Especially when paired with gemstones that encourage introspection, such as moonstone. You can wear silver jewelry to embrace your flexibility, express your inner world, or to power the change you want to see in your life.
I hope this introspective walkthrough of the meaning of silver helps you feel more connected to its energy, which in my experience is a gentler energy than other metals.

]]>Brass is a metal alloy that consists of copper and zinc. Known for its versatility and beauty, it's an excellent substitute for gold in both jewelry and ritual magic. But brass shines brightly for reasons that extend far beyond its physical appearance. Join me on this exploration of the meaning of brass in the metaphysical world and learn how to utilize its properties in your daily life.
When used as a talisman, brass can shield you from negative energies, psychic attacks, and harmful influences. As a material widely used for forging coins, brass is linked to wealth.
Brass also serves as a fair substitute for gold in ceremonial magic, due to its beautiful golden hue. For energy work, brass can serve as an energetic conductor in magical rituals. For example, a brass wand, pendulum, or dagger works just like a copper or bronze one.
To clean brass jewelry physically, you can use basic ingredients like lemon, vinegar, and salt. Here’s how you keep it shining as new:
Reminder: pay special attention if your brass jewelry contains gemstones. Most gemstones should not come in contact with these natural acids.
To clean brass jewelry energetically, you can use crystals, incense, salt, and even moonlight. Here’s how you do it:
Meditation is a wonderful practice that can help you enhance your well-being. However, finding the time and space to meditate can be challenging in our busy and noisy world. Today, I share a few ways you can use jewelry to boost your mindfulness practice and how to program it with different intentions.
]]>Throughout the world, jewels have served as aids for meditation and prayer, carrying specific symbols and materials that hold cultural, spiritual, and traditional significance. However, in my experience, the true essence of jewelry emerges from one's usage and the intentions they infuse into it.
Today, I share a few ways you can use jewelry to boost your mindfulness practice and how to program it with different intentions.
Mindfulness is all about being present and aware of what’s happening right here, right now, without judging or reacting. And we know for a fact that a regular mindfulness practice can help you feel happier, more calm, and more connected. So why not incorporate it into your everyday life as much as possible?
Here are some simple ways you can use your jewelry to facilitate mindfulness meditation:
By following these simple practices, you can use your jewelry as a way to bring more awareness and appreciation to your everyday life. However, you can also use your jewelry to set, nurture, and manifest intentions.
Whenever I need to sharpen my mind or tap into dominant energy, I reach for my fire agate jewelry. This gem enhances creativity, confidence, and courage. By wearing these pieces, I activate and balance my sacral energy center, which is where I find the strength to make decisions. This helps me to clear my mind, and connect with others more intentionally.
By choosing jewelry that represents your values, your goals, and your dreams, you can align yourself with your true purpose and vision. Wear a symbolic piece during your meditation, and use your jewelry as a reminder and a motivator to pursue your goals and dreams and to embrace the changes that come along the way.
Choose symbolic jewelry that embodies the best version of you. Let your jewelry motivate you to make choices from a place of love for yourself and others.
You can use your jewelry as a way to express your gratitude and intention for abundance in your life. Just pick a piece with a gemstone like quartz that amplifies intentions.
Another way to cultivate a positive and abundant mindset is to be grateful. While meditating, admire the beauty and quality of your jewelry and feel thankful for the resources that came from the earth.
Lastly, but by no means least important, you can charge your jewelry with protective energy so that you can feel grounded and well-guarded. Pick a piece that has red or black color as these are associated with protection e or a stone that wards off negativity, such as bloodstone, black spinel, or black tourmaline.
All Blavk Jewelry comes charged and enchanted but feel free to charge your jewelry with affirmations and ask it to protect you from any harm or stress. This can help you cultivate a calm and confident emotional state and strengthen your boundaries.
I hope this blog post has inspired you to use jewelry as a tool for meditation and mindfulness. If you’re looking for pieces of jewelry to use in your spiritual practice, take a look at my mindfulness jewelry collections. You can shop by both category and intention. Plus, all my jewelry is made with fair trade and traceable materials and undergoes a corresponding ritual to its intention.
Thank you for reading.
]]>The word for 2023 was discernment, and with the help of Tiger’s Eye, I hope you learned or are learning to trust your intuition just a little bit more. Hopefully, you learned how to spot disingenuous people and projects and how to look at what’s happening around the world with clarity. Unsurprisingly, the tarot cards pulled for 2024 build on what comes after discernment.
The first card I pulled depicts a person sitting inside four sand castle towers holding an orb of light with the word power written in all caps across the top. This card, the Four of Pentacles, is one I would typically read as solely a message of protection, a warning to heed those who wish only to take from you. However, I recently finished re-reading “Grieving While Black: An Antiracist Take on Oppression and Sorrow” by Breeshia Wade, and I couldn’t help but recall her thoughts on power. Wade reminds us that power is not something we can possess but a force that works through us. So what is the Four of Pentacles asking us to safeguard if we cannot possess power? I was met with a rich response when I inquired further. The Four of Pentacles was followed by the Three of Wands - which depicts a person juggling three torches ablaze near the edge of a cliff, and the Six of Swords, which features a person sitting atop a cloud reading a book with six swords pointed at the cover. We are being asked to protect our playful and inquisitive nature (Three of Wands), to protect ourselves from those who do not support our need and desire to ask questions (Six of Swords), and to learn. More pointedly I saw this reading as a reminder to protect ourselves from propaganda, never to think we are too educated to be affected by a constant onslaught of biased media. The Six of Swords is a card of learning, and often, lessons are easier to grasp when done collectively. Yet, when discussing protection, the focus is typically on barriers and shrinking our circles. The Three of Wands placement between both these cards is a reminder for balance. You cannot make it in this world alone.
For 2024, I offer up the mineral Bloodstone, also known as heliotrope, as an offering. May it assist you as you work to strike a balance between protecting your hope and educating yourself on the atrocities taking place worldwide.
To a liberated future for all!

]]>What is your relationship to intimacy and change like? As we approach this month's full moon, which ideas and beliefs surrounding intimacy and relationships need to be acknowledged and potentially adjusted?
The first card drawn from the deck this month was the Two of Cups, my favorite card for romance and intimacy. However, it is quickly followed by the Two of Swords and the Hanged Man, suggesting avoidance and the need to examine our beliefs about relationships. Perhaps we are being inundated with other people's thoughts, making it difficult to hear ourselves think (Two of Swords). The solution is not avoidance but to look at our approach to relationships. By doing so, we can experience breakthroughs and the ability to move forward (Ace of Wands + Prince of Wands).
I was curious if there was anything the cards needed to communicate to us this month, and four additional cards appeared. Ultimately, everything aligns itself in our best interest (The Universe) if we take the time for introspection (The Moon) and accept that endings are a part of life (Four of Wands).
For assistance with change, clarity, and intimacy, I suggest working with Blue Celestine, Selenite, and Red Agate this month. Both Selenite and Blue Celestine will assist us as we spend time listening to our intuition and guides. Red Agate will help us implement the changes that we realize are necessary to move forward.

I'd suggest working with Eisen Quartz - which is quartz evenly colored by iron oxides and hematite inclusions. Typically this gemstone is colored red, orange, brown. It helps get you out of your own way and is helpful to take the risks needed to achieve your goals. For those looking to connect with all life forms around I'd suggest Diopside, Peridot and Serpentine. The animals present in the Magician and the Empress cards suggest that communicating with all beings can provide insight. If discernment is a reason you're nervous to trust yourself or others I'd suggest Tiger's Eye which can help make provide clarity and movement.
For those thing believe they need more personalized assistance, I offer custom spirit informed jewelry. Designed specifically for you and your needs these pieces are collaborative created and spelled by me for you. Learn more about the process by clicking here.
]]>I started 2022 burnt out and unsure if creating and fabricating jewelry as I had over the last 3 years was sustainable. My business plan for Blavk Jewelry has been "I make stuff and put it out in the world for people to buy," no marketing strategy, no real understanding of trends or business models just pure heart and naivety. While trying to sort out answers to how I'd continue creating in a way that could support me financially I was asked by a fellow craftsperson, Rebekah Gail Frank if I'd like to assist her teaching queer youth at the well known craftschool, Haystack. Since everything I had been doing felt as if it was failing spectacularly I decided to see if maybe I needed to pivot directions and learn to teach jewelry making. In between the time I accepted that opportunity I also applied for a few scholarships to attend artist residencies and workshops. I hoped this change of pace would provide me with some answers. In the spring I was accepted to take a course with well known contemporary jeweler Iris Eichenberg at the same craft school I'd be teaching at in September.
Over the summer I quietly dealt with some pretty stressful financial insecurity. However I committed to trying different things to make this business work which meant taking a SEO course, and attending business bootcamp that culminated in a pitch competition (which I won). I spent three weeks learning all the things I assume most folks know when they start businesses and realizing how far behind I've been. Before I knew it, it was August and time to attend the workshop. Days before I left my parked car was involved in an accident that rendered it immobile (I still don't have my car back 🙃 ). While attending the workshop I was offered a position with SNAG (Society of North American Goldsmiths) as a communications coordinator. (yayy financial security). However, I was quickly brought to my knees by not one but two racist incidents, one of which I'm honestly still recovering from and still processing during my time at Haystack.
When I returned from the workshop I was given the opportunity to become a featured artist at Tshatske Jewelry Studio! The pieces they've got are the last works I've done this year. Right on the heels of finishing up those pieces I was informed I'd made it to the second round of another business pitch competition, this time winners would receive $50k! Public speaking is not my forte and neither are talking numbers but with that much money on the line I needed to figure this out quick. So for the last two months my sole goal has been putting together a presentation that could win this business some money. I'm happy to report that I did indeed win that $50k with the help of some very supportive friends but now it's November and I'm like shit I haven't really shared anything with all of you. I've been busy; processing trauma, mourning, shifting, changing, growing and trying to find balance amongst so much newness.
For those who've stuck around, thank you for being here. I refuse to create from a place of guilt or fear or expectation because this work is energetic and I can't in good conscious pass that chaos off to you. Now that my life is started to feel a little more stable I can resume working at my bench, creating pieces for you all to spend time with. In a world of instant gratification, this will remain a space of intention.
]]>As we move into the last month of summer and welcome the leo new moon this is a perfect opportunity for us to catalog which internal changes we wish to see during this moon cycle. It's usually easier when creating our manifestation and alignment lists to focus on the external and material changes necessary for a better life but I challenge you to create a list that takes into account your inner world.
If you look at the reading above almost every card showcases an enlarged figure with visual emphasis on the head and brain. The first card in this sequence asks us to slow down and process all that has happened, while the second reminds us that whatever difficulty you're going through or are in the process of exiting is temporary. All emotional states are temporary, so we should pay attention to where are energy and focus is being pulled towards this new moon. After taking stock of our emotional state now is the time for us to come up with a plan to make changes to our behavior and thought processes. However remember we aren't in this alone and can call upon the wisdom of our elevated ancestors to guide us through.
The tarot card for the month of August is the nine of pentacles. It's looked at a card of success and bounty, but what do we need to do to achieve success? Plant the seeds and start building the habits necessary to reap the reward and harvest you want for yourself in the later months.
As I mentioned at the top of this post the gemstones for the fall are Scolecite and Dendritic Agate and Quartz. Scolecite will help us with our internal challenges and the dendritic gemstones will assist us in implementing that change. To learn more about Dendritic gemstones visit this post where I get into all its properties and uses.
I'll be writing about Scolecite next so check back for that soon!
]]>Not knowing your ring size may cause you to miss out on that special one-of-a-kind ring or keep you from grabbing a gift you know a friend will love. No need to worry if you're unsure of your ring size, it's not hard to figure out. I'm going to go through three different ways to find your ring size from least to most involved.
To keep things really simple you can purchase a ring sizer from our shop to determine your size prior to purchase. Just slide the plastic ring on your finger - it measures up to a size 17 - and adjust the slider until it fits. In the event, you're purchasing a made-to-order ring we'll send a ring sizer to you for FREE.
This option is for those who have a collection of rings but cannot remember the size of any of them. Just print this sheet (do not scale) and place your ring on top of the various sizes on the printout until you find your ring size.
The third way is definitely the most involved but for custom rings, it's incredibly accurate. Use a piece of twine or string to wrap the chosen finger, and mark where the string overlaps. You'll then use a ruler to measure the length of the string. After that, you can just stop there and provide that information within the notes section of your order. I'll share your ring size with you upon getting your order. If you aren't ready to place an order just quite yet, you'll take that measurement and find your size on the chart below.

]]>This month let Quartz with Hematite, Smokey Quartz or Moonstone assist you with both the wandering and the groundedness needed to consider how you're moving in this world.
]]>"It's going to require us to sift through our minds before we open our mouth."
Eclipse season has officially arrived with a solar eclipse on the New Moon in Taurus. Then not too far into the month (May 11th) we get the privilege of leaning into another Mercury Rx cycle. I'm by no means an astrologist but between the new moon and eclipse season beginning, May has the potential to trip up our communication with loved ones.
What will be really helpful for us this month is to consider what our personal truth is. Examine the beliefs you've been holding, do you they still ring true for you? Are they even your beliefs or were they passed down to you from close friends, family members and you've just attached to them by proxy? Take stock of what is yours and purge the rest. If you can't back it up or justify it or explain why then maybe it's time to drop that line of thinking.
All of this is for our betterment - our personal truth is at the center of the reading - a new beginning (Genesis card) sits right above us and below us sits the Withdraw card which asks us to consider our beliefs and thinking. Another thing we should consider while we make ourselves ready for this new beginning to come, is what stories are we holding for others? Can we release those stories so we can make space for different pathways to form? Get rid of everything that is stopping us from making peace with ourselves.
The tarot card for the month echos the message from the four fold oracle cards with the hanged man. Ask yourself "What is an old way of doing things that you can release?" The hanged man is typically an invitation to shift our perspective, an opportunity to look at things differently. So be flexible, malleable and discerning this month.
Whenever I think of big shifts I immediately think about Pluto, linked to the underworld and upheaval. These energies bring change to our doorstep forcing us to consider other possibilities. For the initiated and practiced, Stibnite can be the perfect mineral to work with to bring on alternative perspectives being that it's associated with the planet Pluto. A word of caution though, this gemstone is a force and will take you on a ride if you're intentions aren't clear.
For those not ready to work with Stibnite, I'd suggest Labradorite, both the one known for its iridescence and golden labradorite. The former for its etherial properties, helping us to see all dimensions, reality and possibilities. The latter to focus our clarity and gets shit done. Clarity will prove quite helpful as we decide what beliefs stay and go.
If you'd like to commission a piece with any of these gemstone stones, my custom books are open. Learn more about the process by visiting this link.
There are also a few sigil pieces in the shop focused primarily on clarity. We've got the "Protect my Clarity" sigil available in pendant or ring form and the "All Statements lead to Clarity" sigil available as a signet ring.
]]>In April we've got a full moon in Libra, the zodiac sign symbolized by scales. Which feels incredibly appropriate as this month's reading is all about balance and renewal.
The April spread is dominated by the archetype of the Magician with many of us seeking to manifest our goals and dreams. However before we can begin we need to get clear on what we're planting. The crossroads oracle card suggests there may be an air of confusion around which direction or path is best. This isn't one of those moments where we should explore every avenue available. We are being asked to be decisive, even if that means things take a bit longer to happen. Only when we've gotten clear then should we begin clearing space and planting our seeds.
Maybe you're currently experiencing anxiety waiting for signs of growth from seeds previously planted. Consider the state you were in when you laid those plans; was your mind clear, did the decision bring you relief? If the answer was no to either or both I implore you to spend some time exploring what it is you want and need. When we integrate the lessons from every aspect of our reality it'll become easier to see the clear picture. It's impossible to find balance when we ignore the uncomfortable or difficult aspects in life. We can't love and light our way out of mental fog.
We are reminded of this by the tarot energy for April - the Devil card. It may not be everyone's favorite card but I love when it shows up. It's a reminder that I am standing in my own way, the keys to leave are right there! Now I'm not saying that it's easy to remove yourself from difficult situations but the Devil card is a reminder that you possess all the tools to free yourself.
Free yourself from any indecisiveness this month by meditating on what it is you truly want from this season.
If you resonate with the mental fog and lack of clarity surrounding decision making, I'm suggesting a Selenite and smokey quartz combination to help open your upper energy centers to advice and guidance from spirit. In order to integrate that information and use it in the material world, you'll need to ground yourself. Smokey Quartz is an excellent protection and grounding gemstone that will help balance the energy of Selenite. To learn more about Selenite check out my last blog post on accessing etheric realms.
For those searching solely for balance and decisiveness I'm going to suggest Dendritic Quartz and Agate which I've written about extensively here.
]]>
If you're new to gemstones and minerals selenite is a quite an easy one to identify. It ranges from semi-milky to translucent and tends to be found in a striated formation. Being a form of gypsum it's an incredible soft mineral, scoring a 2 on the Moh's hardness scale. If the specimen you have on hand cannot be scratched with your fingernail then more than likely it isn't selenite. Selenite can be found in a variety of locations from Australia, Greece and within the US. However the best quality minerals come from Mexico.
Now that we've covered what selenite is and how to identify it, I can share some of the ways to work with this colorless mineral. When I was a baby mystic one of the very first things I learned about Selenite was it's ability to cleanse other gemstones and our auric fields. For this reason I am never without Selenite, it can be found on my altars, next to my bed even in my car. In addition to its ability to cleanse other gemstones, its excellent for those who are looking to reach their angelic guides. By clearing our congested energy it amplifies our ability to receive messages from spirit and activates our upper energy centers - even beyond the most commonly known 7 energetic fields.
It works exceptionally well as a meditation aid and because of this I designed a necklace to be used during mediation. The scrying mirror pendant was designed to be place on your forehead to provide immediate relief, place the open back pendant on your body during meditation to engage its cleansing properties.
Selenite also heightens the properties of other minerals and gemstones making it the perfect mineral to construct the base of a crystal wand. I utilized this aspect by creating the Duality pendant which features a large Selenite Oval mineral and a large teardrop Nuummite gemstone. It harnesses the power and cleansing connected to Selenite and the power and inner strength from Nuummite. Embodying the phrase "as above so below" this pendant amulet is a reminder to not neglect or reject your shadow aspect. In a later blog I'll dig into why working with our shadow is deserving of attention and focus but for now it's important to remember that periods of shadow (or rest) are integral to growth.
What way are you most interested in using Selenite now that you've learned the many things it can assist with?
]]>This is the month to pay attention to our dreams. What messages are they sharing with us? What ways can they help us to blossom and move forward? What warnings and urgings are we hearing that we've refused to acknowledge because we cannot let go?
Change can feel terrifying for some of us and the phrase "The devil you know is better than the devil you don't," is popping into my head but who says there has to be a devil waiting on the other side? The unknown only remains that way until we take the time to examine it. Sure we will never know everything but isn't trying something different better that continuing to do the same thing, forever doomed to repeat history.
What old programming are you holding onto that's keeping you from imagining a more radical future? Be sure to locate your ley line home during this Pisces season, you can't share what you've learned if you can't get home.
Since the message I'm hearing is asking up to remember our bodies but pay attention to our dreams both Selenite and Smokey Quartz are great gemstones to work with. Selenite to take you up into the astral plane and Smokey quartz for protection and anchor back to this dimension.
Later this month I'll be releasing some Selenite pendants to assist you in your astral travel so check the website on March 15th to see the new pieces. I'll also share more on Selenite and Smokey quartz in an in depth post.
May you be blessed with clarity and the ability to imagine and conjure new realities.
]]>There's a dual nature to this months' offering. We're asked to continue sharing but instead of resources the focus is on our experiences and the knowledge our ancestors are sharing with us. We are also asked to take some time to process this information internally while also observing whats happening outside ourselves. To spend time in contemplation and stillness while also walking through a new portal. If anything the range of emotions, feelings and experiences will happen swiftly this month so it's up to us to find ways to remain present. To bear witness to the cycles happening.
Above all else I think there's a vulnerable energy to this month. A question we can ask ourselves periodically is; how can I practice flexibility in my thought process and when it comes to tangible changes?
Don't be afraid to look at yourself in the mirror, or really look at your surroundings. There's information there, vital information that will move us forward - when the time is right.
If you are someone who tends an altar, show a little extra care to your ancestors, spend more time speaking with them at this space you've created. There is so much love in taking the time to cultivate a relationship with ourselves, our ancestors and those around us who are open to being vulnerable too.
Lepidolite is one of my absolute favorite gemstones. Its uses are many and I always seem to find a way to carry it with me. This lilac colored gemstone is perfect for those in transition, gently ushering us towards change in the most soothing manner. I'm also feeling inclined to mention Icelandic Spar (also known as optical calcite) as well, most commonly used by the Vikings to navigate the seas. This mineral is most helpful with the clarity needed in the midst of transition. Let it act as the guiding force as lepidolite soothes us through change.

This month the need for clarity carries over along with the request for us to share information and resources with our community. What skills do you have that would benefit those nearest you, or those in need. What information have you been blessed with that you can teach others? January is asking us to not only share all we've come to know through life, ancestors and experience but to receive that information from others as well. If there's something you feel called to share, this may be the time to do so.
Take a moment at the start of this month to go wherever clarity comes easiest for you. For me that's the water, for you that may be somewhere that allows you to plant both feet into the ground. Wherever it is, go to that place and meditate on your gifts, resources. Show gratitude for having received them and consider the ways you can share your gifts and resources with others.
The tarot card of the month is the King of Wands, asking us not to delay but to go forward with confidence. To help others and allow people to help you as well.
All we've got is each other so start the year by keeping community at the forefront of your mind. We ALL have something to share because we all have different talents, skills and ways of processing.
It's not always easy to feel gracious, this world can make it difficult to remain kind. Mostly we are reacting to each others baggage so I'm suggesting Rose Quartz to soften us all a little bit.
Many of us have been living in limbo since March 2020 and it feels difficult to reset from that point. I'd love for us to utilize Diopside to consider our relationship to the resources we use from the earth. To reset our relationship with ourselves and this planet and to consider where to go from here. There is no backwards, there is no return we can only move forward.
Happy New Year Friends and may you find moments of joy, peace and abundance throughout the year.
]]>This week we're asked to accept and lean into the receptive nature from many around us. To share what we've learned or are in the process of learning because we can access additional information from the spirit realm. The shift this week comes from moving on towards a new path way (0.4 Conclude) even the arrows in the center of the card spell out GO repeatedly.
We've learned to stay open, to accept the messages from spirit and earth and now we must move forward with this new information.
For additional context we looked to the Sun + Moon tarot deck. Which asks us to keep balance at the forefront of our minds. I love this version of the two of pentacles because it reminds me of both the Temperance and Justice card. We are weighing what we have learned recently with what we've always known. To use both in our decision making processes to hold onto balance as we move forward.
This week I'm suggesting working with different forms of quartz; amethyst, clear quartz and smokey quartz if you've been having difficulty recognizing your elevated guides. For help with clarity and messages start by centering yourself and asking for an open mind.
]]>After the collective pull utilizing the Four Folds Oracle deck I drew one card from my Sun and Moon tarot deck, this part did not make the Instagram reel but it did inform my gemstone recommendations for the week.
I pulled the Ace of Swords, a card I link closely to mental mastery, to winning the battle against our intrusive thoughts and moving from a place with clarity. I saw this card a further indicator to make choices and accept opportunities with confidence and clarity. However, I'm also in the midst of reading Jessica Dore's Tarot for Change so I skipped ahead to see what musings she had to offer about the ace of swords. There was one simple question that has been guiding my week since reading it;
"Will the choice I'm about to make bring me closer to or further away from what I'm after?"
So yes we should be confident and stay open but asking this question will cut straight to the heart to provide us with the clarity so often needed to feel confident in our decisions.
I'm inviting everyone to activate their sacral energy center, their sexual and creative force with gemstones like Carnelian and Aragonite (star clusters). Aragonite is useful for its balancing and confidence inducing qualities. It can remove energetic blocks when used on specific energy centers.
Carnelian will give us the confidence needed to make things happen. It's great to lean on when we're ready to take action and move beyond the dreaming stage. It's a stone of force and embodiment, which we can use to feel connected to our waking life.
Seek out these stones and see how they make you feel this week, I'm also available for custom projects utilizing gemstones that can help benefit your life.

]]>I'd like to encourage everyone to not only focus on our tangible accomplishments but to also how it felt to move through this year. What beliefs no longer make sense? In what ways have we shifted as people?
This month gives us the gift of clarity, the unveiling of secrets and the opportunity to change our internal behaviors. It's asking us to take advantage of how thin the veil is and how easy it may be for our guides to communicate with us. What are they saying? Or rather screaming for us to notice?
Now is the time to take stock of the way we live our lives, examine the reasons we make the choices we do. Doing so can lead to some beautiful a-ha moments, that'll inform what we do or don't carry over into the next month, year, decade.
We're currently in Sagittarius season so taking action or moving impulsively may feel second nature. However I encourage everyone to slow down and fall into the sea of emotions that might have neglected first. Journaling, meditative walks or prayer (if that's your thing) will help us reach the clarity faster.
I'm suggesting Selenite, Blue Kyanite, Rose Quartz and Amethyst to aid us as our eyes open up. The blue kyanite, selenite and amethyst will help facilitate our connection with our guides and ancestors (make sure you're asking for help from your elevated ancestors only - not all of them wish us well). The amethyst will help with both clarity and opening our crown. The rose quartz is purely as a reminder to be loving to ourselves when uneasy things come up. On another note selenite is a self cleansing crystal and can be used to cleanse your other gemstones as well. When things are particularly rough I like to sleep with a piece of it under the pillow or next to the bed.
Share your thoughts below, I'd love to hear them
]]>Most metals are an alloy containing different types of metal. 18k gold is an alloy which in addition to 75% gold also contains copper and sterling silver. Where as bronze is an alloy comprised of copper and tin.
Many folks I speak with express concern when it comes to items made with brass and bronze, there’s real worry about the oxidation process. Oxidation happens when metals (brass/bronze/sterling silver) are exposed to moisture in the air or through water causing the formation of a patina. When the metal reacts with our sweat and body oils it creates copper chelates which is what sometimes causes the green discoloration. Below I’ll share a few diferent ways to maintain your jewelry that contains a higher percentage of base metals.
Storage
To avoid having to continually deep clean your jewelry storing it in a cool dry place will slow down the oxidation process for sterling silver, brass and bronze and even 14k gold-fill.
Storing your jewelry away from the bathroom and removing it whe applying oils and lotions also helps ensure the longevity of your pieces.
Polishing Cloths
Sunshine polishing cloths are a great way to manage oxidation on uncoated brass and bronze. Wiping down your jewelry after each wear will help maintain its shine and lessen the elbow grease needed to clean your jewelry. Watch a previous video where I demonstrate how to clean your brass pieces with a polishing cloth.
Acid Mixtures
If you’ve neglected your bronze or brass jewelry for some time and the oxidation has set in another way to remove patina is by creating a paste with household materials. This method works best with jewelry items that do not contain sensitive gemstones like selenite, kyanite or tourmaline.
You’ll want to start with clean jewelry, so use mild soap and warm water to wash then thoroughly dry your pieces. Afterwards you’ll apply a paste - you can use either a toothbrush or soft rag for application- created with
1 tbsp Salt
½ cup distilled vinegar
Flour (until paste is formed)
Let this paste sit on the jewelry for 45 minutes. Rinse and dry with a soft rag.
Alternatively combine lemon juice and baking soda until a paste forms and apply to jewelry for 30 minutes.
Restoration
At any point in time you can ship your jewelry in for a cleaning. Just send an email to hello@blavkjewelry.com.
The first polishing cloth is on me but others are available for purchase here.
]]>It's a new week and we're being asked told to prepare for a roller coaster. It'll be the best ride though, one that reminds us everything is cyclical.
Pay attention to those you associate with, are they supportive or do they keep you stuck in the muck of life? You'll want to surround yourself with those that understand we all have something of importance to offer one another. We all aid in each others healing journey even if it's not in the capital H way and at some point we all will need assistance. As you build up those around you don't forget about yourself. Take the time check in with yourself, clear those feelings, habits or behaviors that keep you from feeling ease. Talk sweetly to yourselves as you would do for the group of folks you love and care for.
When you're feeling cozy and content remind yourself that growth doesn't happen by remaining stagnant. We all can and will fall down at some point. There's this Yasin Bey quote that came to mind when I was looking at the descend card.
And if you land on your feet / Do it count as a fall or a jump?/ And do it feel like a fall when the hands that pushed you were holding you up?
Be willing to trust yourself and those close to you when leap without looking for growths sake. It may not be comfortable or what you planned on but what better time is there to practice our new skills when things descend in a way that feels terrifying.
To help you through this week and through this rollercoaster of states, I suggest carrying or wearing a piece of amethyst for its assistance with clarity, divine connection and energetic clearing. Pair amethyst with either green aventurine so when you make that leap you're confident that despite the outcome you'll learn and grown. For the most intense oomph push those frequencies to the nth degree by adding a piece of clear quartz to this group.
Let me know in the comments how you're feeling this week.

The second common dendritic crystal is dendritic quartz which is easily recognized by its transparent and iridescent background. Most dendritic specimens are found in Brazil, India and Montana.
Now that we’ve covered the basic background on how these crystals are formed and where they’re found let’s get into the esoteric and metaphysical properties. With inclusions that resemble the natural world it’s not hard to see the connection between these crystals and its energetic capacity for grounding. Think back to a time you tried to change or alter an aspect of your behavior, how grounded were you when you attempted the change? If you weren’t very grounded how easy was it to maintain the changed behavior?
Both dendritic agate and quartz work to keep us grounded so we can spend more time and energy on our internal journey instead of expending energy trying to get into the right headspace. It allows us to cultivate a sense of balance, making it much easier to see the steps needed to change whatever our desired behavior is.
A mantra associated with dendritic agate is:
“I am committed to doing the inner work that brings truth, growth and balance to my life.” (The Book of Stones by Robert Simmons + Naisha Ahsian)
Ultimately dendritic crystals give all who desire to work with it the gift of presence. Allowing us to see ourselves with balance so that we neither retreat into a self deprecating loop or use action as a means to escape bettering ourselves.
It offers no judgement when held and does it’s work slowly and silently unlike gemstones like Moldavite or some varieties of Quartz which can feel like hot iron in your bare hand.
Have you spent any time with dendritic crystals? What was your experience, I’d love to hear from you.
